Hi writers -
Today, there's a feeling of coming home to something that's been waiting patiently for recognition. I'm renaming my podcast to The Whole Writer.
Why "The Whole Writer"?
When I began this work several years ago (transitioning from author to book coach), just as the pandemic was reshaping our lives, I witnessed something remarkable. Writers were flocking to their computers with newfound inspiration, hungry for craft advice, story frameworks, and publishing insights. And I was here for all of it!
But something has shifted in these past few years. Something profound.
In my coaching sessions, I sit with writers as they share their most vulnerable stories—narratives of grief and loss, stories of finding love, journeys through trauma toward healing. As I help shape their manuscripts, I'm constantly reminded that our work extends far beyond story structure.
It's about honoring the courage it takes to translate life's most intimate experiences to the page. It's about creating space for the full spectrum of human emotion within our creative practice. It's about recognizing that the person crafting the words matters just as much as the words themselves.
The questions I hear have evolved from "How do I write a stronger scene?" to "How do I keep going when I've lost faith in my work?" From "How do I get published?" to "How do I create in a way that feels meaningful and sustainable?"
A Return to Wholeness
Our creativity doesn't exist in isolation from our wellbeing, relationships, environments, and emotional landscapes. In a world that's increasingly fragmented, I believe we're all seeking something different: connection, community, sustainability, and meaning.
This new name—The Whole Writer—represents what I believe we are all seeking: wholeness in our creative lives. Not just techniques for better sentences, but nurturing the person behind those sentences.
What This Means Going Forward
My newsletter and podcast will embrace this more holistic vision. We'll still discuss craft, but within the context of the whole creative experience.
You can expect topics like:
Creative wellbeing and sustainability
Community building and connection
Different publishing pathways
Ideas for integration and wholeness
And yes, still plenty of practical craft applications
I'm also opening this space to writers beyond fiction—memoirists, poets, non-fiction writers, you are all welcome here.
My Invitation to You
I'd love for you to continue this journey with me and to hear what aspects of the whole writing life you'd like to explore together. What questions are you carrying about sustaining your creative practice? I’d love to know.
Thank you for being here.
With gratitude,
Nicole

Seeking help for your novel manuscript? Here are ways I can support you:
📚1:1 Coaching: This is perfect for writers hoping to shape their story before moving on to edits and revisions.
📚Developmental Edits: This is perfect for writers seeking to strengthen either a partial or full manuscript.
📚Author Platforms & Agent Queries: This is for writers ready to start thinking about getting their stories out into the world.
Thanks for sharing. I'm curious how your coaching business is going and how you approach developmental editing. I'm an editor and I offer those two services as well, but I'm curious how a former writer turned coach thinks. Well, I'm technically a former writer turned editor still writer haha.
Love the new name and new vision!
